It’s been a really lovely season for photo shoots this year, as I’ve reconnected with so many of my previous wedding clients, who have now had children. I photographed Faye & Ryan’s romantic wedding at La Petite Dauphine Franschhoek in early 2017. They live in the UK and flew back with their little daughter, Emilia to introduce her to the Cape. Emilia’s second name is ‘Dauphine’, lovingly named after the venue where her parents said ‘I do.’ I love hearing peoples stories, and I’m always inspired by them when I’m doing their photo sessions. When Emilia was born, the first thing Faye thought when she saw her was ‘what a little pudding.’! And that’s become her nickname. Barely walking, and Emilia already has so many expressions that her parents and grandparents have fallen in love with.
We met up at the tiny Bakoven beach, nestled between Llandudno and Camps Bay, for their family photos on a very misty morning. Shortly after sunrise, the mist lifted and Lions Head appeared.
I met up with Faye and Ryan several days later to do a viewing of their images, and emotions ran high, and tears flowed. Family really is everything, and I’m so happy I got to capture these future heirloom photos for them, and for Emilia when she’s older.
