It’s always easy to find a gorgeous setting in Cape Town for a vacation family shoot because everywhere you turn, theres either a mountain, ocean, or forest somewhere. Or in this case, a mountain, an ocean and Muizenberg’s iconic colourful Victorian beach huts! Muizenberg, with it’s mesh of Art Deco and Edwardian styles, and popular with surfers, effortlessly shows off it’s charm, every single time.
I photographed Ute and Tom’s wedding several years ago, and it was so lovely to see them again and meet their two children! They traveled to Cape Town from Zimbabwe to see family, and we met up on Muizenberg beach at sunrise. It was a calm, warm and wind free morning, and the light was just right for some magical beach reflections.
My location photo shoots are very relaxed, and I prefer my clients to play and interact with their children for most of the photo session. This means that everyone gets to enjoy the experience more, and have fun at the same time.
I used to wonder how I could contribute something of myself to the world in a really meaningful way, and then I realised the best way I know is through photography. I love documenting beautiful moments for my clients that they can look back on in the future and really cherish. It’s also a memoir for their children. A glimpse into their childhood and a piece of a puzzle in their life story.
