Here’s a pretty special story. Last year I photographed Alison and Don’s wedding in Kalk Bay, Cape Town. (View wedding by clicking HERE). At the time they were based in Geneva. Fast forward to 2018, and we were back at the same quirky, charming fishing village, but this time, with their gorgeous baby boy, Bailey. The lovely Grandparents arrived and joined in on the shoot, and it was great to see everyone again. The following week, I met up with them again, to do some photos at their home on the Atlantic seaboard, and those you can view over HERE.
I love the energy of Kalk Bay. On one side of the railway line is the harbour, dotted with colourful fishing boats, seagulls and fisherman, and on the other side are cafes, coffee shops, vintage collectables, art galleries, bookstores and boutique shops. It’s a great area for exploring and just wandering the streets, and it’s definitely one you should add to your list if you are on vacation in Cape Town. Depending on what type of ambience you are wanting, two of my favourite restaurants are Harbour House and The Brass Bell. Harbour House is a relaxed, yet upmarket seafood restaurant, with views of the harbour, ocean and mountains. The Brass Bell is more casual, with a terrace and bar area, and often has live entertainment. It can feel like you’re actually sitting on a massive ship because the waves literally crash against the restaurant walls.
